Sikkim 1st state with round the clock uninterrupted CCTV surveillance of EVMs

Sikkim has now become the first State in the entire country with the provision of round the clock uninterrupted CCTV surveillance of the Electronic Voting Machines. This was announced by Chief Electoral Officer VB Pathak in Gangtok today.

Talking to the newspersons he said that CCTVs have been installed at the EVM strong rooms in Gangtok as well as at the three district headquarters at Namchi, Gezing and Mangan which are capable of a continuous video recording for a month.

About three and half percent of new voters have been added to the State’s Electoral Roll after the Summary Revision 2010 which concluded on the 15th last .

According to our Gangtok Correspondent ,an increase of 10,464 voters, mostly those attaining eighteen years of age on the 1st January last, was recorded during the process.
