Israel-Palestinian talks an opportunity for restoring peace: Obama
President Obama has called on the Israeli and Palestinian leaders to walk the path of peace when they begin a new round of direct talks in Washington today. Earlier, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shook hand of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas when the met in Washington. But Mr. Netanyahu said any peace agreement must guarantee Israel’s security. Mr. Abass said it is possible within a year, but Israel must freeze all settlement activities.
Meanwhile, the armed wing of Palestinian group HAMAS says it shot and wounded two Israelis travelling in a car in the West Bank yesterday. The attack came a day after HAMAS killed four Israeli settlers in the similar attack in the West Bank.
