US Open: Leander Paes & Lukas Dlouhy crashes out of the Men’s Doubles
Defending champions and third seeds Leander Paes and Lukas Dlouhy have crashed out of the Men’s Doubles in the U.S. Open Tennis tournament . In a first round fixture in New York last night, the third-seeded Indo-Czech pair lost to the Czech-Slovakian combination of Martin Damm and Filip Polasek in three sets 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
However, the Indo-Pak duo of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi advanced to the men’s doubles second round. The 16th seeded pair defeated Americans Brian Battistone and Ryler DeHeart 6-3, 7-6.
Paes has been a two-time champion (2006 and 2009) and
three-time runners-up at the Grand Slam event with different partners. Interestingly, the Indian veteran’s 2006 title triumph at the Flushing Meadows came with Damm.
