Iraqi PM welcomes US withdrawing combat troops
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has praised the U.S. administration commitment to the security agreement and the withdrawal of combat troops from Iraq.
During his meeting with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, who is currently visiting Iraq, Maliki also reasserted on the Iraqi forces’ capabilities to perform their duties.
Meanwhile President Obama has hailed the end of US combat operations in Iraq, saying the US has paid a huge price to put Iraq’s future in its peoples’ hands. In a speech delivered in Oval Office address, he said US would continue to support Iraq’s government and people. Declaring Operation Iraqi Freedom as over Mr Obama said the Iraqi people now have lead responsibility for the security of their country.
