Firing between gunmen and security forces continue near US consulate in Peshawar Firing between gunmen and security forces continue near US consulate in Peshawar In Pakistan, firing is still on between unknown gunmen and security forces near U.S. consulate in northwest city of Peshawar. GEO TV says, the exchange of fire is intermittently in progress for past some hours now in the sensitive area. When the firing broke out early this morning, military troops surrounded the intelligence building near the U.S. consulate that the gunmen have entered. So far it is not known whether the gunmen planned to target at the intelligence building or the U.S. consulate.

Meanwhile, militants who had earlier taken hostage two soldiers while they were being shifted to another compound have surrendered. Officials told media that the operation has been successfully completed and there was no casualty while one man got some injuries.

Militants attacked army buildings close to the US consulate in northwestern regional capital Peshawar early in the morning which followed gun battle with security forces.
