Left wing extremism to be curbed in three years – Chidambaram
The Home Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram has expressed confidence that the left wing extremism will be met with determination and overcome in three years time.
Addressing the members of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to his ministry, Mr. Chidambaram said that both the Centre and the state governments will jointly meet the challenge posed by the Maoists.
Mr. Chidambaram also informed the members about the decisions agreed to at the meeting of the Chief Ministers of seven naxal affected states on the 14th of this month.
These include providing affected states with additional helicopters for logistic support, setting up of unified command for anti-naxal operations in four states and strengthening 400 police stations in the affected areas.
At the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee, the third in a row on the issue of left wing extremism, several useful suggestions were given by the members to fight this menace.
