Govt. to gather more material for seeking extradition of Warren Anderson from USA
Government says it will gather more material for seeking extradition of then Union Carbide Chief Warren Anderson from the USA. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, the External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna said that a recommendation to this effect has been made by the group of ministers which examined matters relating to Bhopal Gas disaster. The additional information will be gathered by the CBI with assistance from Ministry of Law, External Affairs and the Attorney General. Mr. Krishna informed the House, earlier request for extradition of Anderson has been made to the United States and Washington maintained it can not be executed as it did not meet the relevant provisions of Indo-US extradition treaty of 1999.
