Markets Ends Flat in Red – 13 April 2010
The Indian markets remained subdued for the day as the markets witnessed some selling across the counters. Most of the sectoral and broader indices closed the day in red. The markets declined more than 150 points from day’s high and then recovered as the day progressed. IT and Power indices provided some support to the markets. Auto, Banking and Oil & Gas indices were the main draggers in the markets. The Sensex closed the day in red declining 31.04 points or 0.17 percentage points to close at 17,821.96. Nifty ended the day at 5322.95 declining 16.75 points or 0.31 percentage points. Market breadth was negative with 1,359 advances against 1,527 declines on BSE. On the global front European and Asian stocks fell
and U.S. index futures retreated as declining metal prices hurt the earnings outlook for commodity producers and Alcoa Inc. posted sales that missed analysts’ estimates.
