Raju trial in 1 yr, says Khurshid
The government felt the need for anti-fraud provisions to prevent corporate frauds like Satyam, said the Union minister for corporate affairs, Mr Salman Khurshid.
Speaking to mediapersons after inaugurating a business festival here on Friday, Mr Khurshid said Mr Ramalinga Raju’s trial would be completed this year. “I understand that it has been a year now and Mr Raju has been kept away but I am confident that the trial would happen by end of 2010,” he said.
He also lamented that the law is different and slow here in India. “In the US, when any corporate fraud comes into the limelight, immediate action is taken and fraudsters are brought to book immediately. But in India, people take time to file a chargesheet and cases are delayed for years,” the minister said.
