Indian sugar prices trades at record high in Maharashtra, UP. Kolhapur. Sugar makes all time high at Rs 3382.5/quintal, up 84% this year. Delay in crushing in Maharashtra, UP, Karnataka. Farmers in UP hold back cane. Maharashtra sees 21 mills start crushing Vs 34 year ago same time. India 2009-10 output estimated at 16 million tons, consumption at 23 milion tons.
UP farmers plan agitation at Parliament on Nov 19. Farmers demand prices more than Rs 200/q as against FRP of Rs 129. There are 40 lac cane farmers in UP.
