Education space to get a boost post budget 2009
The budget for 2009-2010 will prove to be encouraging for the education sector. The Finance Minister has announced various provisions for creating employment in the country. He has given a thrust on skilled labor. FM announced student loan with full interest subsidy during the period of moratorium, to enable students from economically weaker sections to access higher education. It will cover loans taken by such students from scheduled banks to pursue any of the approved courses of study, in technical and professional streams, from recognised institutions in India. It is estimated that over 5 lakh students would avail of this benefit.
FM also announced an allocation of Rs 25 crore each for the two campuses, which Aligarh Muslim University has decided to establish at Murshidabad in West Bengal and Malappuram in Kerala.
FM proposed to launch a new project for modernisation of the Employment Exchanges in public private partnership so that a job seeker can register on-line from anywhere and approach any employment exchange.
