Asian mkts trading mixed; Shanghai Composite, Seoul Composite up 0.51%   

Asian technology shares gain on Elpida, the biggest maker of memory chips said that it’s upping its prices; phone companies drop. Japan’s export slump slowed in March, ending a four-month streak of record drops and adding to signs the recession may start to ease.

China’s Shanghai Composite was up 0.51% or 12.88 points at 2,548.70. South Korea’s Seoul Composite rose 0.51% or 6.88 points at 1,343.69. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was up 0.66% or 100 points at 15,386.95.

However, Singapore’s Straits Times fell 1.57% or 29.57 points at 1,857.68. Japan’s Nikkei was flat at 8,709.63. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted was flat at 5,882.76.
