Banking, Metals gain; Tata Steel gains 25%

This week, markets surged in line with global peers. Sensex ended above 10,000 and Nifty ended above 3100. This week, Sensex went up 12%, Nifty went up 10.5% and Nifty Junior went up 10.3%. In borader markets, CNX Midcap Index ended up 5.5% while BSE Small-cap Index ended up 3.8%. All BSE sectoral indices end in the green and gains at least 5%.

Index gainers were Unitech, up 33%, Suzlon Energy, up 19% and Tata Motors, up 15%. BSE Bank Index ends up 18.5%, in which HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank were up 19%, SBI was up 17% and PNB was up 33%. BSE Metal Index ends up 15.5%, in which Tata Steel was up 25%, Sterlite Industries was up 19% and SAIL was up 15%. BSE Oil & Gas Index ends up 12.5%, in which Reliance Industries was up 15%, RPL was up 14.5% and ONGC was up 6.5%. BSE Capital Goods Index ends up 12.5%, in which L&T was up 15.5%, ABB was up 13.5% and BHEL was up 12.5%.

Small-cap gainers were Gokaldas Exports, up 66%, S Kumars, Deccan Chronicle, Matrix Labs, up 35%. Mid-cap gainers were Lanco Infratech, up 28%, Aban Offshore, up 27%, Axis Bank, Sesa Goa, up 25% and JSW Steel, up 21%.
